Ames Exploration Encounter

In the Aeronautics area, the students learn how NASA scientists and engineers design rotorcraft.

Forces on an Airplane - students learn about the four forces on an airplane: Gravity, Lift, Thrust and Drag.

Wind Tunnels - students learn how windtunnels work, view a retired windtunnel and use a table top windtunnel.

Computers - students use computers to design rotorcraft.

Exploring Flight Vocabulary List - While at the Ames Exploration Encounter students will hear many new words. It is recommended that the students become familiar with the vocabulary before attending.
